Mikita Brottman, PH.D, is an Oxford-educated scholar, author, psychoanalyst, and cultural critic. Her articles have been published in the American Journal of Psychoanalysis, Psychoanalytic Review, American Imago, and elsewhere. Her most recent book, Maximum Security Book Club is a riveting account of the two years she spent reading literature with criminals in a maximum-security men’s prison outside Baltimore, and what she learned from them. Brottman is a Professor of Humanities at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and continues with her weekly reading group at Jessup Correctional Institute.
